Ferrari 156 F1 ‘Sharknose’ at 1:8 scale
The legendary 156 F1 unofficially known as the ‘Sharknose’ was perhaps the most beautifully proportioned F1 car ever built, and is clearly one of the most important cars in the history of Grand Prix racing.
The 1961 season was dominated by the ‘Sharknose’ largely due to the superb 120 degree V6 engine that was developed specifically for the car by Carlo Chiti from the 65 degree Dino engine.
None of the original cars survive but Amalgam’s extensive research into archive drawings and photographs along with privileged access to one of the two surviving engines have made it possible to model accurately for the first time ever the fully developed late season car with the 120 degree engine.
This small limited edition is very deeply detailed indeed and shows the car exactly as it was driven to victory by Phil Hill at Monza.
At 1:8 the model is approximately 60 cm (24 inches) long.
Creating the master model took around 4,000 hours of work by a small team of highly skilled modelmakers.
Each individual model then took around 350 hours more to finish and build.
This small limited edition is very deeply detailed indeed and shows the engine, chassis, drive train, suspension and the cockpit, all in extremely fine and historically accurate detail.
Amalgam have gone to enormous lengths to re-create the exact details of the chassis, engine, body and drive-train used by Phil Hill to race to victory at Monza in 1961.
